Fundraising Focus for the Year
In 2010, the
Rockford Memorial Development Foundation is focusing special
fundraising efforts to support the wide array of Surgical
Services at Rockford Health System.
Rockford Health
System is the region's leader in surgery.
Each year, the talented physicians on our medical staff
perform more than 10,000 surgeries.
These surgeons and anesthesiologists are supported by more
than 100 registered nurses, technicians and other care staff who
constitute our outstanding operating room team.
Together, they use their skills to treat, heal, rebuild and
repair our patients - ranging from tiny newborn babies, children and
teenagers to adults. The
department's 14 surgical suites include special operating rooms for
orthopedic, cardiac and the latest da Vinci robotic procedures.
The da Vinci Surgical System was launched in the fall of 2007
and the team has currently performed nearly 400 urological and
gynecological procedures using minimally-invasive, state-of-the-art
robotic technology.
Mark Zarnke,
M.D., a surgeon who chairs the Rockford Memorial Hospital Department
of Surgery and practices at Surgical Associates of Northern
Illinois, said this about why he likes to operate at Rockford
Memorial. "I have worked in numerous operating facilities over the
last 20 years. The thing that sets Rockford Memorial apart is the
people. The staff strives to provide respectful care to all our
patients before, during, and after surgery, easing a very stressful
time. They are responsive to the surgeons' needs as well. The
all-physician Anesthesia department is, without a doubt, the best I
have ever worked with. Along with events like the Gala, the Rockford
Health System Board of Directors has committed to improvements in
the Operating Room to enhance safety, patient comfort, and
technology."
The Foundation is proud to dedicate support to Superior Care in
Surgical Services at Rockford Health System. For more information on
how you can get involved, please contact the Foundation at (815)
